Funniest book I ever wrote

Jim Stern has done the impossible - made data analysis fun!

Jim Stern writes mostly about serious analytical topics and how organizations can leverage their data to make smarter decisions. I suppose to cleanse his intellectual palette he's now sharpened his ample wit and made fun of the the very industry he leads. If the terms "cluster analysis", "data cleansing", and "pivot table" are a meaningful part of your work, or the work of someone you know, then 'The Devil's Dictionary" is a must-have book to place next to your more serious analytic library, or as a gift to your favorite data geek. This is a beautifully illustrated book, simple to read, with a laugh on every page. From 'Ad Hoc Analysis' to 'Visualization', no term is safe from Sterne's caustic and comedic interpretation. And with all due respect (and attribution) to Mr. Sterne, I will unapologetically weave some of the definitions into future presentations. I mean c'mon, how can you resist:
"Mode: Analysis with ice cream"
I rest my case.

Brilliant wit for analysts who love the field and like to laugh

This book should be in easy arm's reach of any analyst who thinks that it's good to chuckle occasionally while working.
It's *not* the book you want your mother to flip through to try to figure out what you do in your job (an experiment I accidentally ran), but it's a great book for those of us who hit the basic industry jargon of dashboards, confidence intervals, cluster analysis, master data management, and dozens and dozens more...and who appreciate the wit of defining said terms in a way that alludes to either a literal-ish interpretation of the words, the *actual* meaning of the term, or, generally, a brilliant combination of the two.
Plus there's poetry (Insight:
"It's not have the answer
It's dreaming up the question
It's pivoting like a dancer
Then testing with regression")
And fantastic artwork.
I can't read two pages without wanting to share some portion of it with other analysts.
