State of the art for Digital Negatives and alternative printing

This new book represents the state of the art in producing digital negatives to be used for a variety of alternative printing processes, including platinum, palladium, and others. I have used the procedures and tools presented in this book to work my own way through the process of creating negatives and making fine palladium prints, so I have proven that it works. The use of the QTR RIP as defined in the book is the best way today to get repeatable print quality and tonality for making negatives, allowing me to spend more time on the creative side of editing images in Photoshop (or wherever you choose).

The structure of the book also allowed me to spend time understanding the details of curve creation necessary for getting the right tones in the negative, but also lets me jump to chapter 4 and just follow his procedures, use his curves, and get started without slugging through the measurements that the authors spent years doing for us.

Plus the ending sections of the book give lots of examples and suggestions for other printing processes, including adding color to palladium or platinum prints with the same printer used to make the negative. It's very clear and inspiring.

As a direct result of the content of this book, I am now making the finest prints I can make in Palladium. This book takes the process out of the hands of the select few who have more time than I to solve the trials and tribulations of this process, and puts it where I can simply make beautiful prints. It's a whole new world...

Classic 80's romance

I want to warmly recommend this Harlequin classic. I have owned a copy for the last ten years and it's in quite a bad condition for the multiple reading.

This is the story of young woman who has renounced to romantic love and decided to become a nurse and a nun. She has to travel to an island to check on her sick sister who lives with her husband and his brother, a proud and passionate italian, signore Romano.

Upon meeting their relationship is one of challenge and deep provacation. Romano does call Nicky on her life decisions and her fear to face the world, her complexes and the starting attraction between them.

Dialogues are fun and very fast paced, the plot and drama keeps you reading until you turn the last page! The characters are unforgettable, especially the failing Nicky.

I place this romance among the top 5 I've read from Harlequin.

Review: Even though it was written during the 80's I still liked it. I was sorta attracted to the book because I was curious about the heroine and her desire to be a nun. I went hmmm.... how in the heck is she going to end with the hero? I was a bit dissapointed that the heroine kept referring to herself that she was plain. I mean she looked sorta hot in the picture with her blonde hair! I gave it a four stars because of because a little itsy bitsy part of me didn't really believe the romance between the hero and heroine (then again not sure if there really is a real life Harlequin romance in the real world!) But otherwise, the book was a fast read and I liked the sort of mystery of the heroine's sister and her husband and their problems.

I couldn't agree more with the previous reviewer - after reading many awful HQN's where despite the H's constant cruelty, affair with another woman or a relative, the h still manages to fall in love with him - this is a book in a million.

Saori Takarai is a staff member at Nippon Engineering College, the same Tokyo school where she earned her degree in art and graphic design. More Manga Moods to Mull over!

If you liked the original Manga Moods, here's more of that!
While some of the roumaji of the Japanese words is a bit off (long o not being written as OU), and maybe the translations of the phrases could be more literal, it is a cute way to learn some Japanese and a way to learn some useful words. I would even say it would be helpful to those with some amounts of autism in case they have some trouble with recognizing certain emotions. It's like a handbook in that regard.

Not what I expected, better!

Ok, I got this thinking that it would be a book simply with illustrated manga moods for artists to see various manga emotions. Well it is that (no how to or anything). It has so much more to offer!
The book is set up with an illustrated emotion on one page and on the opposite page is the emotion name in English, Romanji, and Kana, along with two phrases (English and Romanji) related to the emotion. It's great being able to learn some phrases in Japanese as you explore manga moods!

Love it!

I ordered this book and it's previous version, and it arrived right on time! Be aware that these are gift book size, and are much smaller than normal books. If purchasing, I recommend stuffing these into a stocking or gift basket since they'll fit nicely. This version also has more male characters than the first one, and even teaches you a little Japanese, which was a plus. It starts with little words, and then gradually moves up to whole sentences, and I simply loved it.
