About the Author
Dr Srinathkumar holds BE (Bangalore University, India, 1960), MS (University of Hawaii, 1973) and PhD (Oklahoma State University, 1976) degrees in electrical engineering. He has spent all his professional life as a scientist at the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), India (1961-71, 1978-2000). During 1993-2000 he served as Head of the Flight Mechanics and Control Division at NAL. He has spent two sabbaticals at NASA Langley Research Center, Virginia, USA, under the USA National Research Council Fellowship program. During his tenures at NASA, he was involved in pioneering application of eigenstructure control techniques for aircraft flight control (1976-78) plus the design and successful experimental demonstration of active flutter control of a flexible wing (1987-89). His current interest continues to be in the application of modern control techniques to aircraft and rotorcraft handling-quality design problems.

Author, William Bell Clark was a prolific researcher and writer on subjects ranging from the American Navy to political events mainly in the 18th Century. Clark was tenacious researcher. Captain Dauntless is the biography of Captain Nicholas Biddle told in Clark's wonderfully smooth well edited prose. Tracing the life of Nicholas Biddle from his boyhood in Philadelphia to his heroic command of a sailing man- o- war against a British Frigate, Clark renders a fully dimensional likable subject. Biddle's letters, diary and family history together with Clark's account of his death amidst the broadside terror of his final battle at sea during the American Revolution will remain a lasting rendering of Captain Nicholas Biddle one of America's first Naval Heroes. Captain Dauntless...is a valuable primary/secondary source for any researcher, lover of history or old navy salt at sea again aboard the armchair by the fireplace.

About the Author
Don Miguel Ruiz was born into a family of healers, and raised in rural Mexico by a curandera(healer) mother and a nagual (shaman) grandfather. The family anticipated that Miguel would embrace their centuries-old legacy of healing and teaching, and carry forward the esoteric Toltec knowledge. Instead, distracted by modern life, Miguel chose to attend medical school and become a surgeon.  
A near-death experience changed his life. Late one night in the early 1970s, he awoke suddenly, having fallen asleep at the wheel of his car. At that instant the car careened into a wall of concrete. Don Miguel remembers that he was not in his physical body as he watched himself pull his two friends to safety.  
Stunned by this experience, he began an intensive practice of self-inquiry. He devoted himself to the mastery of the ancient ancestral wisdom, studying earnestly with his mother, and completing an apprenticeship with a powerful shaman in the Mexican desert. His grandfather, who had since passed on, continued to teach him in his dreams.   
In the tradition of the Toltec, a nagual guides an individual to personal freedom. Don Miguel Ruiz, a nagual from the Eagle Knight lineage, has dedicated his life to sharing the wisdom of the ancient Toltec.

Don't be discouraged by nay sayers,It's a great book!

I read all the reviews here on Amazon and the 1 star comments made me doubt this book.
But,from my experience i believe those reviews were unfounded.
The book was REALLY helpul in building new agreements.
as for the journal format:
some people don't like that it is time consuming, but that is the whole point of the book to get you to dedicate time to thinking about what really is behind your way of being.It asks you questions and you to aswer them.this is done to get YOU to realize certain truths about yourself instead of having them be handed to you.by asking questions that dispell the lies you tell yourself the truth is able to come out.
As for the repetitions:
they really aren't many and the ones that are there are placed there on purpose because the more you hear something the more likely it is that you will remember somethig...and he's really trying to get you to remember those things.
As for the comment saying "t4a" is simplistic and save yourself the money:
well maybe it didn't work for that person.But for me the truth is that there is more to it,the book explains the damage that not doing these has caused your life and it goes more into depth about what is behind these agreements and why they help.
Ruiz's work has really helped me and many people, if there is a CHANCE that it might help you then you should try it, you have nothig to loose because if you don't like it you can resell on ebay or donate it. you only have great things to gain :0)

Loved this book. It helped me peel the proverbial onion a little deeper in terms of recognizing my reactions to old programming that no longer serves me. It took me deeper into practicing awareness and manifesting my dream. I would recommend it for anyone who truly wants to live life to the fullest. ; )

Deliciously dark and clever!

I have often wondered what goes through the mind of a pedophile. Having read Innocents, I have gotten a glimpse into the mind of the aforementioned person -- from a sixteen-year-old girl's point of view. The nameless young character describes her thirty-four-year-old schoolteacher's desire for her. He is drawn to her naivete and innocence -- what he doesn't know is that she's manipulating him. Thus, making this one of the most twisted psychological novels out there.
The subject matter is deliciously dark and disturbing. The novel questions morality and innocence by making said notions seem abstract. This is one of the cleverest reads I have had in a long time.

Not So Innocent

Dazzling and Dark.
Two words to describe this odd story. Cathy Coote writes from the perspective of a nameless teen who seduces and manipulates her high school history teacher into a false sense of responsibility and obsession over her.
The sexual scenes in this novel are incredibly detailed and real. And my favorite motif within the novel was that of the constant symbolic comparison of the speaker to a snake. ("You battled yourself, a man wrestling a Boa Constrictor"; "Entertwined on the couch like snakes in their basket") When considering a running symbolism such as this it makes her seem so much more sinister than she admits and even prides herself in being.
However, I stopped reading about 2/3 of the way through. It became too flat and disgusting for me to identify with the speaker any longer. Eventually I picked it up again, and skimming over a few passages I reached the end and again was let down. There is merely the hint of a climax and the book drops its reader into the same pit that the personality of its characters seem to have tumbled into.
I recommend the book for its beautiful diction and description, but warn of its eventual monotany.

An incredible experience

Her writing is beautiful- and it reminds me MUCH more of Kathryn Harrison's style than of Nabakov. The fact that so many people are underating her just proves they are paying too much attention to her age and can't get back into the mindset of a teenager. The people reading it saying it left them unfulfilled are probably just angry that the heroine of the story didn't get punished. The point is that the "Lolita" in this story is just as aware of her youthfulness as the her adults are- that's not very common. She is also intent on remaining ashamed. What ties her and her lover together appears to be their dark urges. She wasn't even a character in the first chapter except for the pictures. The whole point of the book is that the main character doesn't have an identity she can feel until she tries to engorge herself into somebody.

I mean the girl even dreams of rescuing her older man from the people who have abused him!!

"Then I'd gather you to me. I'd swallow you whole. I'd absorb you into my bloodstream, and you'd circle around inside me, endlessly." Coote writes.

I think the authors choice to leave out the rest of the world and focus on the relationship, having our main character play less and less of a role in the "Real World" as time passes was a deliberate literary decision.

She has panic of a dancer twirling themselves to death... or a drunk like Cage from the movie "Leaving Las Vegas" about to drink himself to his reckless end.

This is a MUST READ.

Perfect difficulty level

I've been playing piano for most of my life,and I'd consider myself at a moderate level. The music in this book is at a perfect difficulty level for me. It isn't too tough, but it isn't easy enough to play it perfectly on the first sitting. You'll have to practice the songs for a bit (but not too long), but once you get it down it all sounds brilliant. It perfectly captures the essence of Hans Zimmer's awesome music, and including a wide range of his music from Gladiator to Man of Steel.
I would have preferred some different songs to some of the ones included, but that's just me. All in all, you'll have a blast playing through it all.

The Biology and Medicine of Rabbits and Rodents

The purpose is to provide lab professionals with the advice on the maintenance of rabbits and rodents, concerning their care and health. It covers rabbit, guinea pig, hamster, gerbil, mouse and rat. Even though it is intended for *experts*, the book is relatively easy to read and is very thorough starting with the general husbandry and biology, followed by clinical procedures, sign of disease, diagnoses and listing specific diseases and conditions from A-Z. It lists the hosts for the disease, etiology, transmission, predisposing factors, clinical signs, necropsy signs, diagnosis, prevention, effect on research and public health significance. The last chapter has self test with case reports.
Even though this is not an *exotic pet rodent* book, it is a great reference book for any rabbit or rodent pet owner, since most diseases occur in pets as well as in laboratory animals. A nice middle ground between serious technical veterinary books and the common photo pet shop books.

About the Author
Michael M. Cox is Assistant Chair, Department of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his B.A. in Biology from the University of Delaware and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Brandeis University. Cox's current research activity involves studies of the mechanism of action of proteins involved in genetic recombination. This work is focused on the bacterial RecA protein, the bacterial RecF, RecO, RecR, RecG, RuvA, and RuvB proteins, the yeast Rad 51 protein, and more broadly on the mechanism of the recombinational DNA repair of stalled replication forks. Jennifer A. Doudna grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii, where she became interested in chemistry and biochemistry during her high school years. She is currently Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology and Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She received her B.A. in biochemistry from Pomona College and her Ph.D. from Harvard University, working in the laboratory of Jack Szostak, with whom she also did postdoctoral research. Michael O'Donnell received his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, where he worked under Charles Williams Jr. on electron transfer in the flavoprotein thioredoxin reductase. He performed postdoctoral work on E. coli replication with Arthur Kornberg and then on herpes simplex virus replication with I. Robert Lehman, both in the biochemistry department at Stanford University. O'Donnell then became a member of the faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College in 1986 and an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 1992 before moving to The Rockefeller University in 1996. O'Donnell is a member of the National Academy of Sciences.

That the study of plant viruses is of very important does not even need to be said, given the destruction that they cause to food plants every year. This sizable book, having appreciable gravitational pull, is written for experts and students who intend to specialize in plant virology. However, anyone who is curious about the subject will find the book packed full of information, even though at times it reads more like a literature survey. In addition, many of the techniques in genetic engineering were first applied to food crops and other plants. This reviewer was mostly interested in the effects of plant viruses on photosynthesis and the role of gene silencing, if any, in plant viruses. These topics are discussed at various places in the book.

Great for research, grad school... beware if you are an undergrad.

Mathews Plant Virology was my introduction to both plants as well as viruses as an undergrad. I did not appreciate it for its wealth of knowledge back then because it was so different from the traditional undergraduate text book. The book assumes the reader has a preliminary understanding of many topics in biology, and furthermore rather than building on principles like the majority of undergrad text books does, it simply presents an encyclopedic amount of information on plant viruses. I loathed this book at the time, as did everyone in my class. We hated this book, but I hated this book with a passion. i hated it because I had looked forward to formally studying virology for years. I wanted the familiar undergrad text book I was used to, the one constructed in a way that I never had to go to class and I could still read it and understand. This book was not it.

That same semester I began my first journey into research. My goal was simple: to sequence the plant virus CCMV. This took me about one year, and didn't require that I actually knew all that much about plant viruses. I knew enough to get by, to learn the techniques in the lab, and then complete my project.

As I progressed as a student, I realized my questions about plant virology could not be curbed. As I learned more about science and biology in general, I wanted to know specifics. By the time I made it to graduate school, I wanted to know the specifics that I could not find within those traditional undergraduate text books. Finally I realized the importance of a book like Mathews Plant Virology. This book was so detailed, so to the point, every sentence filled with useful information, no filler. This was the book I wanted, and I realized I wished every text book had been written in this format. If I had research questions, instead of trying to piece together information like I had to when referencing typical books, I could the answers here.

Anyway this is getting long and boring but the point is, if this is an intro course, you might find yourself bogged down by this book. It is different from most books you have encountered. But if you really want to learn about plant virology, I dare you to see this book for what it is: a comprehensive wealth of knowledge on the subject. Stick with it, and you will soon see its real value. And to a researcher, a book like this is a life saver.
