An Awesome History on the pioneers of Industrial Culture

This book was a great introduction to the artistic exploits of
the controversial performance group Coum Transmissions. Although I was familiar with Throbbing Gristle since high-school, I had not heard of Coum before.It was fascinating how Coum transformed into the pioneers of industrial culture:Throbbing Gristle. T.G. stood out even amongst the explosive punk scene that was born as a reaction to the grim and gritty Thatcher years. They were even too radical for most punks. Well written and compelling, it contains some amazing background information into their method and madness. If you are interested in industrial culture,analog technology,art or music of the seventies,magick,or simply have a morbid curiosity then this book is for you.One of the best art/music books that I have read in a long time with lot's of great and rare photos. One particular side effect of reading this book was that i developed a fascination for front man Genesis P. Orridge and I encourage everyone to investigate and acquaint themselves with this cultural engineer who played a major role in introducing not only 'industrial' music but also body modification,rave culture, and magick to the public. As a result of reading Wrecker's I am now totally absorbed in Gen's Psychick Bible which I also highly recommend.

Wreckers of Civilisation

This book will provide plenty of insight for any enthusiast who desires more context in which to understand the motives behind TG.

Plenty of back story illuminates the early adventures of a couple of nutty kids in love as they parlay their penchant for mischief into successful anti-careers. Join two art damaged acid-heads as they learn how to navigate the sexual/socio/political spectrum of 1970s England while utilizing confrontational happenings in a bid to transcend physical and mental hang ups; all the while petitioning the British arts counsel to fund their next performance art piece which sought to provoke enough outrage to dismantle the very system that kept Genesis in Porridge. When the authorities finally had enough they took him to court and withdrew funding for his Cotex chewing exhibitions. Once the arts funding dried up Cosey Fanni Tutti turned to pornography to pay the bills and Gen decided to form another band with the guy that did record sleeves for Pink Floyd. In the end it was plain old relationship issues – jealousy - that precipitated the decay. These guys were the Fleetwood Mac of Industrial Noise. God bless 'em.

About the Author

Masoud Farzaneh, an internationally renowned expert in the field of power engineering, is a professor of Electrical Engineering at the Universite du Quebec a Chicoutimi (UQAC). Farzaneh, who receive a Doctor d'Etat in 1986, has taught more than 100 undergraduate and graduate course sessions in electric power engineering. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, IET, and Engineering Institute of Canada.

Shahab Farokhi, Ph.D., received his PhD in 2010. He has taught graduate-level courses in Advanced Power Network Transmission and Operating and Power System Analysis at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC). He joined the faculty of Glasgow Caledonian University in 2012.

William A. Chisholm, Ph.D., received a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He has co-supervised more than ten graduate students and delivered industrial training and graduate courses on weather effects on overhead lines. Dr. Chisholm is Secretary of the IEEE Transmission and Distribution Committee and contributes a column to INMR, a quarterly technical magazine for the electrical industry.

Just another William Stevenson book copycat

The book is very basic and the line design part is not really covered in any way. The topics discussed can be found in any introductory power system book. No software implementation is considered for any of the topics covered within the book. Power system book by Hadi Saadat maybe a better option.

About the Author

Edward Alcamo is a Distinguished Professor of Microbiology at the State University of New York at Farmingdale. He has taught at the college level for 30 years, specializing in microbiology for nursing and other allied health science students. Dr. Alcamo has been honored for excellencein Teaching by the State University of New York (1990) and the NationalAssociation of Biology Teachers (1990). He is an AIDS educator, an active member of the American Society for Microbiology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.

Lawrence M. Elson received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in Zoology (Pre-Med), and completed his graduate and Ph.D. work in Human Anatomy also at the University of California, Berkeley. Elson has served as an instructor in human anatomy at the City College of San Francisco, an assistant professor of anatomy at Baylor College of Medicine, and as a lecturer at numerous additional universities and professional organizations.

Elson is the founder and president of Coloring Concepts, Inc. (CCI), producer and packager of college level, educational, scientific directed-coloring texts. He is the author/co-author of the Anatomy Coloring Book, Human Brain Coloring Book, Zoology Coloring Book, and Microbiology Coloring Book.

Presently, he is principally functioning as a clinical and forensic anatomist retained as a consultant to governments, provinces, insurance and other corporations, and law firms on causation of injury issues in cases in or anticipated to be involved in litigation.

Future plans include expanding CCI by developing new titles in the physical sciences and other education-related disciplines.

A great introduction to microbiology

A wonderful introduction to the complicated subject of microbiology! For all levels from middle school through graduate school. The coloring, as promised, is highly effective for reinforcement and retention. It makes the subject fun (and easy!)

Excellent Tutorial for Beginners

Those who wish to learn about Adempiere or iDempiere will find this book very useful. By following the tutorial on each page, readers will get a full understanding of how the software works, what are the minimum data required to execute each function and many other crucial information. While some functions have changed since the current version is now iDempiere ver 1.0c, it is not difficult to find the changes in the procedures by googling the respective topics. iDempiere is a very powerful ERP system which is free of charge.

Missing information

Adempiere is by far the best Open Source ERP solution, but like all other Open Source ERPs it lacks of a good manual. The information is in pieces all over the internet and is not well organized in the Wiki. It is also always incomplete in the sense of the software itself. In this case, is the installation process. If you plan to use Adempiere inside your LAN, then go ahead and buy the book. It will give you the basis to start using Adempiere, but to use the client application over the internet you need a lot more than this book. The book needs more information on Jboss configuration to work with Adempiere.

The information on this book is just awesome, it is a very good written book, well-organized, hands-on approach; if you want to know your way into ADempiere this is the reference to look for. Highly recommended, since it takes you from the installation to a comprehensive functional description of the most common enterprise processes.

Author is very knowledgeable about business, besides the technical and functional aspects of ADempiere.

Can't wait for 2nd Edition, including Libero Manufacturing and Human Resources.
